Don’t you just adore spring and all the gifts it has to offer? I always look forward to this time of year more than any other, and I especially look forward to Easter. Easter has long been my favorite holiday; I look for every possible way to celebrate it! Sometimes I like to find fresh ways to blend in with time honored traditions, such as the Easter basket. For many years I have used vintage milking buckets as Easter “baskets” for my family, before that since we lived near the beach I used sand pails filled with beach toys and candy. These days I want something a little smaller and more unique to fill with special items for friends and family.

These adorable carrot treat boxes can be presented alone filled with yummy treats or in a container as a decorative element. To create the carrot tops I ran green cardstock through a crimper and cut thin strips leaving the bottom edge intact. Secure the shredded paper to the box lid and crumple or “fluff” the top. Add a sentiment, and embellish with ribbon and twine.

A fun fry box is converted into an Easter basket alternative when embellished with a popped sentiment, and filled with Easter grass and goodies! This is the perfect size for classroom treats, or small gifts. The Cricut machine is the perfect tool for making an Easter container, there is such a wide range of shapes that can be cut to the size you need. The biggest benefit to me is not having to purchase or store another stack of baskets!
