Memories of Summer Mini Album

Hello, Kristen Swain here with a summer memories album that will be sure to warm you up as you look through it during the cold winter months. I created this simple album focusing on keeping my die cut elements large, my photos about wallet sized and using bright colors. I used all cardstock so I kept costs down but was able to keep colors on each page.

Using a plain album, I decided that using spray mist would help me add background color, without the difficulty of trimming off paper at the edges of the cover. I used a lime and a jack frost color, then added in a spray and larger drops of  turquoise across the front and back of the album. There is a touch of glitz as well. Then I cut some bright colorful letters for the title, adding in a bright sun as well, and I used brown for the rest of the title, so it would stand out, but not be the strongest color on the front.

I created the inside album pages by cutting 8.5 x 11 paper to fit, punching holes where I would thread the album together later. Next, I thought about which photos I wanted to use, printed them out and searched in Cricut Craft Room for images to go along with my page. Details on each page include banner pieces. These are easily cut from strips of paper that with a triangle shape notched out from the ends with scissors. Add bright coordinating buttons tied with twine bows. I kept my journaling simple, handwriting it with a journaling pen.

Simple, easy, and colorful. I hope you have enjoyed my summer album. I have left space to add more pages as we continue our summer activities.

Take care!

Have S’more!

The one thing we often think of when we hear the word Camping is S’mores!  It’s a campfire staple.  I don’t care to camp unless there’s an RV or Cabin involved so I opt to have my S’mores right in my own kitchen or backyard.

This kit includes everything I need for a few S’mores with the kids and no mosquitos, bears, or sudden rain involved, but it would be just as handy at camp.

I started with a chipboard box and painted it to look like a S’more – I tried anyway.  I decorated the top with the phrase “Campers have S’more fun” and a camper.  The little porcupine is embossed with a ‘puff’ embossing powder.  That’s why it has that really textured appearance.

Inside are cello bags with contents for one S’more in each and there’s Sterno (my campfire in a can) and skewers to cook the marshmallows with.  You don’t have to go camping to enjoy a great camp snack.

So, whether you are going camping or just going to visit family or friends, take a long a S’mores kit.  Would make a nice hostess gift, too.

Camping Mini Album

Hi! I’m Shantaie Fowler and as much as I do love the outdoors, I have to confess I’m not much of a camper! Next week my cousin and her girls are coming to visit me, and have decided to go camping, so I made them a mini album to document the trip. My cousin and I are a lot like Lucy and Ethel when we get together, so I am sure there will be plenty of “memorable” moments to fill this album!

I just love the shape of this trailer, and a pink camping trailer as the cover of the album is so much fun for a girls camping trip! I know they will love the colors, and sense of whimsy!

Each page has its own color combo, and embellishments. Some pages have been left a little more open for the addition of journaling and multiple photos. Other pages were filled up with adorable outdoorsy images and sentiments leaving room for smaller photos and memorabilia, to make it easy for a novice scrapper to complete.

The front and back cover have a piece of chipboard sandwiched between the papers for strength and stability, the inner pages have an extra layer of cardstock to support photos and years of “flipping” through memory lane!

A mini album is a great gift for outdoors adventurers, and campers! Take a closer look at your Cricut cuts to see if there is a fun or interesting shape that could be used as a mini album. Or scraplift this idea and create your own trailer album, the cut files are below for you to use and enjoy!!!

Happy camping! And happy creating…oh…and wish me luck! *wink*
