Gingerbread Decorating Party

Hi Cricut Friends! Have you ever entertained the idea of throwing a candy house decorating party? Shantaie here with a few tips and tricks, and a little inspiration to get you started on your way. I have hosted many gingerbread house sugar coated parties, its a fun time for all ages! Whether you are inviting preschool children or adults you will want to assemble your houses prior to the party. The icing needs to cure and harden completely before piling on the candy and frosting icicles! I build the houses on rectangular cake boards found in the baking department, this gives the house a sturdy base for traveling home with its creator.

I know I have said this before, but the party invitation is the very best way to get your guests excited about attending your soiree! This candy cottage cut from Wrap It Up Cartridge is a great first impression, and sure to have visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads! Be sure to include all vital information in your invitation, if you are inviting adults you may ask that each guest bring a candy or box of cereal to share with the group. For young children fewer ingredients works best.

A treat box can serve as both a container for icing bottles, sprinkles and candies, and a treat box for yummy leftovers to take home! These boxes, also cut from the Wrap It Up Cartridge,  are super fast to assemble and can be done in a jiffy!

A tea towel embellished for each guest is a special and useful party favor! You will want to provide a towel for wiping up spills, and sticky fingers! This towel is sprinkled with candy shapes, and few rhinestones set with the iRock tool by Imaginisce. Creating my sentiment in Cricut Craft Roomwas quick and I love how easy the weld feature is! Once I ironed on the images and added a pom pom fringe this inexpensive towel took on the look of a designer towel!

A few tips to remember when you host your gingerbread house decorating party. Keep it manageable . . . more is not always merrier, too many guests crowded at a table may have a difficult time decorating their house. For young children squeeze bottles work best for icing, piping bags are hard for little hands to control, and can be messy! If you plan to include items that require cutting like candy bars or long licorice ropes put out a cutting board and a butter knife or a pair of kitchen snips. A pretty bucket or a paper bag on the table center will help corral the candy wrappers. Gingerbread house relocation? A basket bag is a great protective cover for the car trip home! Take lots of pictures of the candy construction, and a final photo of the house and its creator. I hope you will schedule a party of your own, and build a sweet new tradition!
