A Summer/BBQ Layout

Hi Everyone! Jill  here to share my very first Summer layout of the season with you! I took these photos of my son just a couple of weeks ago while we were at a neighborhood BBQ. I absolutely love my neighbors, once it starts getting warm outside I don’t think we go a week without having some sort of get together or barbecue. All of our kids are really close in age and play together nearly every day. During the summers we set up pools and waterslides and the kids play while we cook, eat and hang out all night. As much as I love our barbecue nights I realized that I barely had any photos from our fun nights together! I made it a goal of mine to change that and I have been trying to bring my camera over as much as possible this Summer. I find that most of the photos that I take are photos of our kids playing, of course! Here are two of my favorites from this Summer so far.

I began my layout with the Life is a Beach Cartridge . Even though it’s a few years old it’s a cartridge that I go back to every year when I’m creating Summer projects. I cut a waves border because no “pool” layout is complete without some water or waves incorporated into it somewhere! I cut the big summer flowers in patterned paper and cardstock to coordinate with the flower patterned paper that I used for the layout background.

My son is drinking a juice box in the photo but when I think of playing on hot summer days I automatically think about refreshing, cold popsicles. I cut the popsicle in brown cardstock and pink patterned paper with the Summer Celebrations cartridge to add to the layout.

I used a Type Candy font and Birthday Bash Cartridge fonts along with some brown letter stickers to compose the title. I finished off the layout with a few page pebbles and my new go-to embellishment- Washi Tape!

Happy Summer everyone!

Scrapbooking Wedding Heirlooms

Hi Everyone! Jill Cassity here to share a family memories layout with you.

HE CAUGHT IT! by Jillian Deiling Cassity

Last year at our wedding we did the traditional bouquet and garter toss. When I threw my bouquet a big battle ensued, a huge group of my single friends and family were battling over the bouquet, it was hilarious! When it was my husband’s turn to throw his garter though… he threw it over his shoulder, we turned around and saw a group of guys staring at it sitting on the floor, no one wanted to touch it! When my son realized that no one else was going to grab it, he made a beeline for it and snatched it off the floor and started jumping up and down, giggling and holding the garter in the air. He was so excited! My husband and I proceeded to tell him that his catching the garter meant that he was going to be the next boy to get married. My son’s response was “Ewww!”.

I saved the garter with the intent to scrapbook these photos and the garter together on a scrapbook page but I couldn’t figure out how exactly to do it. When I sat down with the printed photos, my Cricut and a variety of scrapbook supplies it was actually pretty easy how to figure out how to go about putting the page together. I simply used a fun Crate Paper wooden clothes pin to pin the garter to the Cricut cut banner. I cut the banner using the Pretty Pennants Cartridge. I cut pink and yellow pennants out of patterned paper and cardstock and then I cut the same pennant shape from vellum as well. I layered the vellum pennants over the colorful pennants and slightly curled the bottoms of the vellum pennants in order to show the patterned paper and cardstock pennants underneath. To finish off the banner I cut smaller pennants in white cardstock, covered them in clear glitter Stickles and adhered them over the vellum pennants

I used the Noah’s ABC Animals Cartridge font to cut my title in green patterned paper. I added small brown Prima alphabet stickers to finish off the title. I fussy cut flowers from the Crate Paper and arranged them in bunches through out the page. To make the page even more flowery I added some pretty paper and fabric flowers.
