Memories of Summer Mini Album

Hello, Kristen Swain here with a summer memories album that will be sure to warm you up as you look through it during the cold winter months. I created this simple album focusing on keeping my die cut elements large, my photos about wallet sized and using bright colors. I used all cardstock so I kept costs down but was able to keep colors on each page.

Using a plain album, I decided that using spray mist would help me add background color, without the difficulty of trimming off paper at the edges of the cover. I used a lime and a jack frost color, then added in a spray and larger drops of  turquoise across the front and back of the album. There is a touch of glitz as well. Then I cut some bright colorful letters for the title, adding in a bright sun as well, and I used brown for the rest of the title, so it would stand out, but not be the strongest color on the front.

I created the inside album pages by cutting 8.5 x 11 paper to fit, punching holes where I would thread the album together later. Next, I thought about which photos I wanted to use, printed them out and searched in Cricut Craft Room for images to go along with my page. Details on each page include banner pieces. These are easily cut from strips of paper that with a triangle shape notched out from the ends with scissors. Add bright coordinating buttons tied with twine bows. I kept my journaling simple, handwriting it with a journaling pen.

Simple, easy, and colorful. I hope you have enjoyed my summer album. I have left space to add more pages as we continue our summer activities.

Take care!

Fun Pool Party Invite

It’s summertime and for many of you that means pool parties.  Cindy Royal here with a fun invitation to hand out to your guests to be.

I started out with some inexpensive swim goggles that I picked up at my local Dollar Store.  I then added vinyl cut letters letting the recipient know it’s a pool party.  These can easily be peeled off if your guest wants to use the goggles while at your party.

To add party information, I added a tag shaped card embellished with the super cute bird ready for a swim and party details inside.  This was easily done using an invitation sticker from SRM Press.

Don’t you think your guests would love to receive an invitation like this to your Pool Party?

A Summer/BBQ Layout

Hi Everyone! Jill  here to share my very first Summer layout of the season with you! I took these photos of my son just a couple of weeks ago while we were at a neighborhood BBQ. I absolutely love my neighbors, once it starts getting warm outside I don’t think we go a week without having some sort of get together or barbecue. All of our kids are really close in age and play together nearly every day. During the summers we set up pools and waterslides and the kids play while we cook, eat and hang out all night. As much as I love our barbecue nights I realized that I barely had any photos from our fun nights together! I made it a goal of mine to change that and I have been trying to bring my camera over as much as possible this Summer. I find that most of the photos that I take are photos of our kids playing, of course! Here are two of my favorites from this Summer so far.

I began my layout with the Life is a Beach Cartridge . Even though it’s a few years old it’s a cartridge that I go back to every year when I’m creating Summer projects. I cut a waves border because no “pool” layout is complete without some water or waves incorporated into it somewhere! I cut the big summer flowers in patterned paper and cardstock to coordinate with the flower patterned paper that I used for the layout background.

My son is drinking a juice box in the photo but when I think of playing on hot summer days I automatically think about refreshing, cold popsicles. I cut the popsicle in brown cardstock and pink patterned paper with the Summer Celebrations cartridge to add to the layout.

I used a Type Candy font and Birthday Bash Cartridge fonts along with some brown letter stickers to compose the title. I finished off the layout with a few page pebbles and my new go-to embellishment- Washi Tape!

Happy Summer everyone!
