Hi all! Michele Kovack here hosting with a page celebrating my 14 year old teenage son. Scrapping for teenage boys can be a lot of fun when you add rustic elements to your pages. The rustic elements help keep your page from feeling too cutesy or juvenile . . . you know, those things that make our teens and tweens cringe. Here I used stars, twine, string, and paint, buttons, and staples to add a masculine edge to this page.
First, I cut a large star in my designer paper using the center point feature. All of the paper I used was printed using the Imagine Vintage Papers Cartridge. I stitched around the perimeter, rounded the corners, inked the edges in brown and splattered brown Glimmer Mist on the paper.
I cut several more stars in various sizes. To make the stars stand out a bit, I used Stickles around the perimeter of one of the stars.
For the other star I machine stitched around entire shape and added 3 buttons tied with twine.
I created a pocket for my journaling so I could include the smaller picture of my son and include my journaling. I machine stitched on 3 sides and left the top open. I tied twine around the stars, journaling pocket, and tied a button to it as well.
I have accumulated many, many font stickers and hate to waste them, so I decided to mix my American Crafts Thickers, some font rub ons, and my Doodletype Digital cartridge to create my title. I like the mixy-matchy look of it!
And who says you can’t use pieces of that awesome designer paper you printed? I cut the tickets from the paper and stapled them to the left side of the layout to help balance it.
I can’t wait to see your masculine inspired LO’s!!!
