Back-to-School Paper Bag Mini Album
Hi everyone! Aphra here today to share a colorful mini album for all your Back-to-School photos. I wanted a quick and easy album that I could use for my son’s first day of Pre-K photos. I grabbed my Recess Lite cartridge and some mini paper bags and got to work.
The album measures 3.25” x 6.5” and is made with paper treat bags that I found at Target. It is bound with office rings at the ends of the bags and has 3” journaling tags poking out from each of the open ends.
To put the album together, I folded the ends of the bags together to create a smooth surface on each side of the bag. Then, I punched holes ½” from each edge and secured them together with binder rings.
Then, I took the album back apart to decorate the interior pages. Each one is covered with my favorite patterns from Imaginisce’s new Geek Is Chic school line. (Note: I had to re-punch my holes after adding the patterned paper.) And for embellishments, I added some of my favorite cuts from Recess Lite, leaving plenty of room for my photos.
The next step was to cut four 4.75” tags with my Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, decorate them with some Imaginisce sticker stackers and pop them into the open ends of the bags. I’ll journal on those later when I add my photos.
Finally, I put the album back together and tied a couple of pieces of ribbon to the rings. I can’t wait to fill it up with photos of my little pre-schooler. Thanks for letting me share it with you today!

Notecards for Teacher
Start the school year off right by letting your child’s teacher know that you treasure the time they take to teach your children, by sending a cute notecard set made with your Cricut machine. Check out the set Charity Hassel made below!
I really wanted all the elements of my card set to work together. So, I decided to use my Cricut to cut my card, envelope and image for my cards. A simple little touch for your envelope is to add a square of patterned paper to the inside of the card — I used an ABC patterned paper for the inside of my envelopes.
Another way I added depth to my image was by inking the edges of the stacked books as well as one side of the apple.
The stacked books was cut, then I cut out the apple from the top of the image. I glued the book cuts together, wrapped the books with twine and tied a knot. I kept the knot in place with a tiny glue dot underneath. Then, I used two pop dots and adhered my apple to the top of the stack!
Here’s hoping my son’s teacher will enjoy her pre-made, hand crafted notecards!

CRICUT CUTS:
(The amount of cuts you use will be equal to how many cards you wish to make for your notecard set)

- 4 cuts at 4″ <card1> from brown cardstock
- 4 cuts at 4 and 1/2″ <layer> <card1> from red cardstock (this is your envelope- I cut it slightly larger than my card)
- 2 cuts at 4 and 1/2″ <card1> from apple patterned paper. Cut this in half- I used these squares to cover the front of my envelope.
- 2 cuts at 4 and 1/4″ <card1> from abc patterned paper. Cut this in half- use this to cover the inside of your envelope.
- 4 cuts at 3″ <books> from white dotted patterned paper.
- 4 cuts at 3″ <shift> <books> from green cardstock.
- 4 cuts at 3″ <layer> <books> from gingham patterned paper.
- 4 cuts at 3″ <shift> <layer> <books> from red paper.

- Using glue dots, adhere rhinestones to scallops.
- Using pink ribbon, tie a bow and adhere to top of plate.

Instructions:
- Cut striped paper. Cut one at 5 ½” x 7 ½”. Cut one at 3 ½” x 12”. Ink edges.
- Cut white cardstock at 5 ¼” x 7 ¼”. Ink edges
- Cut black cardstock at 5” x 7”. Ink edges. Tie ribbon around the black and white piece. Layer three pieces together.
- Cut crayons: Using black cardstock, cut one at 2 ¾” <Crayons>. Using blue cardstock, select Shift, cut one at 2 ¾” <Crayns-s>. Using red cardstock, select Layer and Shift, cut one at 2 ¾” <Crayns-s>. Using yellow cardstock, select Layer, cut one at 2 ¾” <Crayons>. Ink edges. Layer together. Adhere black rhinestone to center of each crayon.
- Cut schoolhouse. Using blue cardstock, cut one at 8 12” <SklHous>. Using black cardstock, select Shift, cut one at 8 ½” <House-s>. Using red cardstock, select Layer, cut one at 8 ½” <SklHous>. Using yellow cardstock, select Layer and Shift, cut one at 8 ½” <House-s>. Ink edges. Layer together. Adhere black rhinestone to door for knob.
- Cut “School”. Using green cardstock, cut one at 3” <School>. Using red cardstock, select Shift, cut one at 3” <School-s>. Using blue cardstock, select Layer, cut one at 3” <School>. Using yellow cardstock, select Layer and Shift, cut one at 3” <School-s>. Ink all edges. Layer together. Adhere apple to “o” using foam squares.
- Adhere the 12” striped piece to top of green 12” x 12” cardstock. Using foam squares adhere school house to layout.
- Adhere mat to layout. Using foam squares adhere the crayons to the left side of mat.
- Ink edges of 12” x 12”.

Instructions:
- Ink edges of striped paper. Using Terrifically Tacky Tape, adhere to inside of tray.
- Cut Candy store. Change blade depth to 4 and pressure to 4. Use 12” x 24” mat. Using tan vinyl, cut one at 10” <CndyShop>. Using dark brown vinyl, select Shift, cut one at 10” <CdyShp-s>. Using pink vinyl, select Layer 1, cut one at 10” <CndyShop>. Using brown vinyl, select Layer 1 and Shift, cut one at 10” <CdyShp-s>.
- Assembling store. Tan piece is the store base. Using transfer tape layer pieces together. Start with dark brown, then pink and brown will be last. Follow instructions provided in vinyl package.
- Tie ribbons to handle on top of tray.
- Adhere pom poms to roof. Adhere ric rac to candy store.
- Using brown checked ribbon, tie two bows. Adhere to window sills.
- Using paper punch, punch from cream, pink, dark pink cardstock. Adhere to inside of candy and bubble gum jars.
- Using striped, cream, pink dark pink papers, cut strips for inside of jars. Adhere them.
