It’s that time of year again…the end of the school year. With that, comes graduation and it seems that most of us know someone that is graduating from either high school or college. I happen to have a nephew graduating from high school and knew I wanted to create a card for his special day. I used his school colors as a starting point for my color selection (black and maroon) and then made my other choices based on giving it a more masculine look.
Use your Imagine to print out the patterned paper for the card base from the Vintage Papers Cartridge. Cut the card base using either your Imagine and A Child’s Year Cartridge. Next cut the cardstock piece to layer over the card base. Emboss the cardstock with your Cuttlebug using the plaid texture folder that is part of the Winter Wonderland Embossing Folder set. This will add a bit of texture and interest. I choose this pattern because it has bit of a masculine feel to it, but this could easily be switched out and give the card an entirely different look. Cut the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Happy Graduation Cartridge from a small print patterned paper and from black cardstock in the same size. I then offset the two layers to give it a bit more definition with doing a full shadow effect. Cut the graduation cap from the Everyday Pop-Up Cards Cartridge and layer using double sided foam adhesive to give it a more dimension. Finish it off by tying a length of ribbon around the cardstock piece and then attach it to your card base.
